Biography

Professor Yasar Onel is tenured faculty at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, USA. He got his Ph.D. from London University in 1975. He was worked at the Queen Mary University, London, UK, Neuchatel and Geneva Universities in Switzerland before joining the University of Texas at Austin for two years. He moved to Iowa in 1988. He is an experimental High Energy physicist who has expertise in building particle physics detectors. He is also an expert on photodetectors and calibration systems used in large scale experiments. He has worked on several experiments at Fermilab, USA and CERN, Switzerland. He is currently funded by the US Department of Energy and also previously from NSF and NATO. He has more than 800 publications in peer reviewed journals and was an editor of two books and has 4 patent applications. He is a James Van Allen Natural Sciences Fellow and APS Fellow.
