Ottorino Veneri graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Naples 'Federico II' in 1996. By the same University in March 2000 he has been awarded his PhD in Electrical Engineering. From 1999 to 2001 he had a research grant provided by the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Naples 'Federico II'. Since 2002 he works as a researcher with the Istituto Motori of the National Research Council (CNR) of Italy in Naples. In recent years he has also become Full Professor at the International Telematic University UNINETTUNO. His main fields of interest are the electric drives for transportation systems, electric energy converters, electric energy storage systems, power sources with hydrogen fuel cells and hybrid propulsion architecture. He is co-author of 2 book published by Springer, 2 chapters of books and more than 60 papers published in International Journals and in proceedings of conferences. He is reviewer of various International Journals that publish material in the area of energy and power conversion, and technical reviewer of Italian Research and Development Projects. He is director of operative units at Istituto Motori within more than 10 Research National and International Projects.

Eli Kapon received his Ph.D. in physics from Tel Aviv University, Israel in 1982 and then spent two years at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, as a Chaim Weizmann Research Fellow, where he worked mainly on phase-locked arrays of semiconductor lasers. He managed the Quantum Structures District and the Integrated Optoelectronics District at Bellcore from 1989 till 1992 and from 1992 till 1993, respectively currently serving as Director of the Institute of Quantum Electronics and Photonics in the Faculty of Basic Sciences at EPFL his research interests include self-organization of nanostructures, optical properties and electron transport in low-dimensional quantum structures, quantum wire and quantum dot lasers, photonic crystals and vertical cavity surface emitting lasers.

Prof. Yoshihisa Yamamoto is working at E.L. Ginzton Laboratory of Stanford University, Stanford, CA, USA and National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo, Japan. His group is primarily concerned with studying quantum dynamics of spin and exciton in semiconductor nanoscale systems. His experimental project combines ultrafast optical spectroscopy with semiconductor microcavities with artificial atoms (quantum dots or impurities) at low temperatures and high magnetic fields. Main focus of his current effort is physical implementation of quantum information processing systems.

Nicolas Fressengeas is Full Professor in the university of Lorraine in France and head of its Photonic Systems and Optical Materials laboratory (LMOPS). His research interests range from non linear optics to optical materials. He has published 42 papers in internationally peer reviewed journals, and contributed to more than a hundred conferences. He is teaching in his university, as well as in the Lorraine campus of GeorgiaTech and in CentraleSupélec from the Paris-Saclay university. He is also involved in Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, seeking to adapt teaching habits to changing technology and people.

Mahmoud Fallahi is a professor in the college of optical Sciences at the University of Arizona. He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Toulouse and LAAS-CNRS, in 1988. He joined the National Research Council of Canada in 1989 and became a member of technical staff as a Research Scientist during 1992-1995. He joined the University of Arizona as an Assistant professor in 1995. His research has been extensively published in peer-reviewed scientific journals, reported in invited talks and published in international conference proceedings. He has authored or co-authored several book chapters, patents and invention disclosures. His recent research interests are in high power semiconductor lasers, tunable sources, nonlinear frequency generation, photonic integrated circuits, micro/nanofabrication, and hybrid organic-inorganic components for heterogeneous integration. He has served as Conference Chair and Program Committee member in several international conferences in the field of semiconductor lasers and integrated optics. Since August 2014 he has been with the National Science Foundation (NSF) as a Program Director of the photonics program in the ECCS Division of Engineering Directorate. As a Program Director he is promoting and managing translational research programs in the field of optics and photonics.

He is an Expert in Flat Panel Technology in Russia, recognized by the World Technology Evaluation Centre, 1994, and SID Fellow since 2008. He is an author of 6 books, 25 reviews and book chapters, about 271 journal papers, more than 597 Conference presentations, and 109 patents and patent applications including 25 US patents in the field of liquid crystals since 1974. He got Excellent Research Award of HKUST School of Engineering in 2012.

Vladimir V. Rumyantsev is Head of Department of Theory of Complex Systems Dynamic Properties at A.A. Galkin Donetsk Institute for Physics and Engineering (DonIPE). Guozhen Shen received his Ph.D. degree from University of Science and Technology of China in 2003. From 2004 to 2009, he worked in Hanyang University in Korea, National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS) in Japan, and University of Southern California in US. Currently, he is a professor in Wuhan National Laboratory Optoelectronics (WNLO) and Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST). Dr. Shen has published more than 150 papers in international referred journals with a publication H-index of 35. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Catalysis Express, Executive Editor of Frontiers of Optoelectronics, Asian Associate Editor of Journal of Nanoengineering and Nanomanufacturing, Assistant Editor of Nanoscale Research Letters and Editorial Board Member of more than ten international journals
