Biography

Belyakov V.A. (Belyakov Vladimir Alekseevich), physics researcher; born Leningrad USSR 17-02-1937.Gradueted from Moscow Engeeniring Istitute in 1961; Postgraduate student of I.V.Kurchatov Atomic Energy Institute 1961 – 64; Head of Laboratory in All-Union Physics-Technical and Radio – Technical Institute 1964 – 82 and in Surface and Vacuum Research Centre, Moscow 1982 – 95; Since 1995 Senior Researcher in L. D. Landau Institute for Theoretical Physics; Since 1982 Partr-time Professor in Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology; Short term Visiting professor of some Universities: Leuven (Belgium), Tokyo (Japan), Paris Sud (France), Glasgow Thrathclyde (Scotland) etc. Author of the following monographs: Optics of Cholesteric Liquid Crystals, 1982, Optics of Chiral Liquid Crystals, 1989; Diffraction Optics of Complex Structured Periodic Media , 1988, 1992; "Optics of Photonic Crystals", Publishing House of Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, 2013 (Textbook, in Russian) Candidate of Science 1965; Doctor of Science, 1974, Professor 1980; Honors:Grants of Russion Foundation for Basic Research (RFBR), Soros Grants, INTAS Grants; Member of Rassian Academy of Natural Sciences, Member of Rassian Academy of Metrology, Member of International Liquid and Liquid Crystal Society of CIS (mem. Governing bd. 1982).

His research interests range from the theory of solid state nuclear physics to the interaction of radiation with matter.
